November 2011 Roots Music Club @ The Unquiet Library

Inspired by the Beatles’ performance on Ed Sullivan, Roots Music Club special guest Lawson Hunt knew from an early age that he would be a musician. Lawson started his first band in 9th  grade, practicing in a chicken house behind his parents’ home. Lawson played keyboards and sang backing vocals on tour in the 70s and 80s with David Allan Coe, George Jones, and Willie Nelson.

Bluegrass and Banjo: Roots Music Club Meeting @ The Unquiet Library!

The Unquiet Library was proud to host the very first meeting of the Roots Music Club sponsored by English teacher Drew Lawson on Wednesday, September 14.  Speaker and special guest Jody Hughes is 2006 Merlefest Banjo Competition winner and member of local bluegrass band WhitePath.  Approximately 30+ students and teachers came with their own instruments to learn the art of the banjo from Jody and to jam out.  We hope you enjoy our photos and video from yesterday’s outstanding event–thank you Roots Music Club for an afternoon of music, learning, and fun!
