We will be creating a clothesline of “poetry” to celebrate National Poetry Month and Poem in Your Pocket Day 2009 (see http://kenyonreview.org/blog/?p=891 for examples). Come by and pick a poem to “hang” on our clothesline—you can pick one out of a book or select from our menu of tasty poems! You can fill out the slip pictured above to indicate YOU are the one who chose that poem!
It is that most wonderful time of year: National Poetry Month! What’s the 411 on National Poetry Month? Here is the scoop from the Academy of American Poets:
Inaugurated by the Academy of American Poets in 1996, National Poetry Month is now held every April, when publishers, booksellers, literary organizations, libraries, schools and poets around the country band together to celebrate poetry and its vital place in American culture. Thousands of businesses and non-profit organizations participate through readings, festivals, book displays, workshops, and other events.
Let’s begin the celebration by sharing one of our favorite resources: Poem a Day! You can click here to sign up for a daily dose of poetry in your inbox to nurture your inner muse.
Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post on Day 2 of National Poetry Month Celebrations!
